Believe it or not…I’ve been there too!
Before pregnancy I used to teach Spinning, Body-Pump at least five hours per week and, on top of that I would do 3-4 Crossfit/gym sessions and cycle everywhere.
I was really fit
I used to do everything at my own time:
training, grocery, cooking, shopping and, of course, seeing my friends for a drink or two. But when I got pregnant things changed…
My worries took over and I nearly stopped all my training for the whole first trimester.
I was afraid of eating most foods I used to like…and the rest I just couldn’t stomach.
If you’ve been pregnant you know what I’m talking about.
Luckily, at that point, I was already a Postnatal specialized PT and I had helped dozens of busy moms lose weight and get back to their pregnancy body.
I even used to run fitness classes for moms and I told myself that I would never let my pregnancy get me out of my exercise routine and healthy eating.
I thought I’d build a strong pelvic floor and have an easy delivery.
I thought I had everything under control…but real life turned out to be quite different….
My worries took over me and I nearly stopped all my training for the whole first trimester.
I was feeding myself with easy food like baby puree, rice cakes and baby cheese (not really the old chicken and broccoli!)
Things got better from the 4th trimester because I qualified in Pre-natal training and spent hundreds of hours researching the safest ways to exercise during pregnancy.
I slowly started doing some very light exercise from my living room with a pair of dumbbells and I made of long walks a daily habit.
Despite all that I’ve put on quite a bit of weight as you can see in this picture kindly edited by my husband :)
Then the day of the pregnancy came…and it was a nightmare
Because of COVID19 I had to go through labor by myself in an empty room and probably because of a rushed decision by the doctors to induce me, I had to have a C-section.
I was there, suffering and scared out of my mind, without anyone being able to stay by my side…but I got through it and I gave birth to my angel Amelia.
I couldn’t be happier and after a few weeks passed I found the courage to take a look at my whole body in the mirror…

I got left with a flabby tummy that was hurting me even when sitting on the toilet.
I couldn’t bare the idea of not being able to move and reshape my body, so I started to apply all I’ve learnt from 3 years training moms and hundreds of hours of studies.
Daily practice of pelvic floor breath exercises.
Specialized physio scar massage, Silicone plasters, Laser therapy.
Collagen, vitamins, bone broth…
…but more than anything an easy, and practical approach to nutrition that fit my new lifestyle (hello sleepless nights!) and body…
…combined with a very slow and progressive return to exercise, exactly what I’ve been coaching my moms clients!
The result? Back to my pre-pregnancy weight at week 7 and to fitting in my old clothes at week 9.
This was not magic or genetics…it was simply the use of the right knowledge.
